Google recently launched a new website simply called Good To Know, to inform users about Online safety and privacy, and about how to manage online data.

There are so many fascinating things to do and explore online, but there are also times when the Internet can be a little bit scary. Just like in the offline world, it’s important to keep yourself safe and secure. Whether you’re a new Internet user or an old hand, it’s good to stay updated on the best practices when it comes to sharing your data online and browsing safely.

The website is divided into 4 different categories which covers the following subjects:

• Stay safe online. Offers advice for staying more secure on the web and an overview of some of the security tools that Google offers.
• An overview of ways that websites can get to know your preferences and how this makes them more useful for you.
• This section explains what information you share with Google when you use our products and services and how we use it to make your experience better.
• Guidance on how you can manage the data you share online, both across the web and on Google services.

Our goal with the Good To Know campaign is to provide people with practical guidance, from selecting safe passwords to keeping their online accounts secure. The website also makes learning about security and privacy easier for the average consumer. We know that in-depth resources like privacy policies and terms of service are often too long, complex and legalistic.
